This week, we take a look at the story of how the Bible came to be a health policy staple.
We examine how a Christian tradition that teaches the importance of prayer, fasting, and prayer vigils has found a home in the United States and become a major part of our health care system.
1.1 Billion Americans Get Well TodayThe U.S. population has grown by more than one billion people since 1950.
In addition to its booming economy, the United State has also become the world’s leading producer of prescription medications.
By 2020, the number of Americans living with chronic illnesses was expected to hit over two billion.
The rise of these chronic conditions is not only a burden on taxpayers, but a direct result of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
UNDRIP states that Indigenous peoples and people of colour face systemic racism and discrimination in healthcare.
One of the UNDRip’s main goals is to eradicate the conditions of poverty, malnutrition, and homelessness among Indigenous people.
The United States has seen a dramatic rise in the number and prevalence of these conditions, with the United Nation estimating that between 10 and 30 percent of Indigenous people are living in poverty.
In the last decade, the U.N. estimates that approximately 10 percent of the population is currently in a chronic condition that cannot be reversed, including more than 3.6 million children and nearly 2 million adults with diabetes.2.5 Million Kids In Poor SchoolsThe number of children in schools that are poor is staggering.
Over half of all children in poor schools are living below the poverty line, and nearly two-thirds are African American or Latino.
Over 50 percent of these children have asthma.
Many of these students are also disproportionately affected by mental illness, substance abuse, and other chronic conditions.
These problems are compounded by the fact that the U,S.
is a nation of immigrants, which has a higher rate of incarceration than any other country.
According to the Institute of Medicine, approximately one in three children in the U-19 age group (18-25 years) are incarcerated.3.5 Billion Americans are Lived In PovertyThe average U.K. household today is worth more than $100,000 and the average household income in the country is $45,957.
Approximately $7,400 of that is spent on housing.
A family of four in the UK spends almost twice as much on housing as a family in the USA, which is a significant number.
The median household income is only $29,200, and more than half of that amount goes to the rent.4.2 Billion People Die In Obesity-Related CausesThe United States is the world leader in obesity, and the United Kingdom is the second-highest contributor to the global obesity crisis.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are over 1.5 billion people worldwide who are obese, with more than 800 million of them in the developing world.
Obesity-related deaths have been increasing, and these trends have been blamed on climate change.
The U.G. has the highest obesity rate in the world, with over 30 percent among adults, with around 1 in 3 adults in the 20-34 age group overweight or obese.
5.6 Billion People Are DisabledIn the U: 4.6 billion people, according to the U’s National Center for Health Statistics, are disabled.
Over 50 percent are children.
Children account for nearly half of the world population, and they account for half of deaths.
6.2 Million People Die From DiabetesThis year alone, approximately 700,000 people worldwide will have diabetes, and approximately 5 million of those will be children.
Diabetes affects almost 1.3 billion people globally.
The diabetes epidemic affects everyone in the age group between one and 49 years old, with an average of 1.6 people dying each day from diabetes.1.5 million Americans Die Every YearFrom Type 1 Diabetes, or type 1 diabetes, more than 1.2 million Americans die each year, according the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Approximately 1 in 8 Americans has type 1, which affects the pancreas, blood sugar, and urine.2 Millions of Americans Are HomelessThe U is one of the most expensive places to live in the entire world.
Homelessness is not a new problem, and it has existed for many years, but the United Sates recent economic downturn has put a severe strain on the homeless population.
In 2017, nearly 7.6 percent of Americans reported being homeless, the highest percentage in at least 20 years.
This rate of homelessness is double the rate in 2014, which was the last year for which data is available.3 Million People Are DepressedAccording to a study from Harvard University, depression is the leading cause of death among U. S. adults, accounting for over 40 percent of all deaths. In 2016
